Hi Premodernists! Recently, we finished the first ever online Premodern tournament—the Premodern Online Open—played with real cards on webcam via Skype or appear.in. The whole thing was flawlessly organized by Clifford Mathieson and out of the 24 participating players, Jared Doucette came out on top with his mono-red Sligh deck. Congratulations! 🙂 I hope to get up the full results and decklists here on the blog any time soon.

If you missed that tournament, or if you’re looking for more action, a second online tournament is now being organized, this time by Ron Taylor, who also generously donates some cards to a prize pool. This is the info he has posted:

Now accepting registration for the second Premodern Online Open. Please submit pictures of decklists along with your time zone, email address, and Facebook name to masticore83642@yahoo.com by Sunday, November 25. The matches will posted by November 27th. Matches will be posted in batches of matches depending upon the number of players and you will have two weeks to complete your matches. The winner of each match will report the results to the same email address.

After the batches of matches, there will be a cut to top 8, and will then be single elimination. The top 8 will be best of 5 games, and the first two games will be played without sideboard.

Games should be played over Skype or appear.in, however if both you and your opponent agree beforehand, you may play over a different platform.

I am trying to get a prize pool together for this event. I will be donating 4 foil decree of justice to the prize pool. Donations for prizes are not required to enter. If you would like to donate anything for the prize support please let me know. If you would like to donate any money toward prize support, all money will be used to purchase prizes for the event.

Looking forward to it!

If you have any questions about the tournament, please contact Ron directly through masticore83642@yahoo.com or ask him in the Facebook group.

If you’re looking for practice games, see the Premodern Online Play group or the Premodern Discord server.

Good luck and have fun! 🙂
